Crochet/Knitting Projects

I completed my first knitting project recently. I am so excited and can't wait to do more! This is the Lion Brand Two-Hour Scarf. It took me an entire day, not two hours! I used Lion Brand's Homespun yarn "Edwardian".

I started this table runner a few months ago. It will be a Christmas present for my mother. I love how it turned out. However, in this picture it isn't blocked so it looks a tad wrinkly. This is another free pattern. It is from Coats and Clark called the Snowdrop Table Runner. I crocheted it with Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread size 10 in Linen. Instead of using the size recommended in the pattern, I used the size 10 crocheted two strands together.

Simple Woman's Daybook October 26, 2009

You can make your own daybook or just find other bloggers doing "The Simple Woman's Daybook" here.

FOR TODAY...October 26th

Outside my window...sunny, chilly, a perfect fall day

I am thinking... about how blessed I am! I am blessed with a wonderful husband, and three healthy children. God provides all of our needs.

I am thankful for...the blessings of God.

I am wearing... a navy blue skirt and red t-shirt.

I am remembering... our day trip to Memphis this past Friday. We went to Joann’s fabrics, T.G.I. Fridays for lunch and to the ear specialist.

I am going...not planning on going anywhere this week except to church on Wednesday night.

I am reading...”Twelve Extraordinary Women” by John Macarthur for Sunday School, “A Good Yarn” by Debbie Macomber, and “Arguing with Idiots” by Glenn Beck

I am hoping...to get a good bit of school work done this week. We are hoping to be able to take off the whole month of December for Christmas.

On my mind... making a list of sewing, crochet, knitting projects that need to be finished; fall crafts for the children to do.

From the learning rooms...Ancient Greece, making a fresco painting, The Iliad

Noticing that... Christmas is only two months away! Yikes!

Pondering these words... She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Prov. 31:26 Praying that this verse would be a good description of me and knowing how often I fail!

From the kitchen...Sausage balls for breakfast, homemade pizza for lunch, chicken rice casserole for supper; baking fall cookies later in the week.

Around the house... getting things in order, fall sewing to be done.

One of my favorite things...playing board games with my family. I bought the Pictureka card game Saturday and we are enjoying it (except for a few pictures I don’t care for).

From my picture journal...

These are pictures of my children (and a few friends) at our church’s fall festival Friday night. We were getting ready to leave on the hay ride.

Crochet Hook Case

For several years I have been storing my crochet hooks in a little plastic box. This wasn't really what I wanted. So after some internet/Ravelry searching, I found a neat pattern for a crocheted hook case. I finished this up last night and am really enjoying it. I used this pattern. It is called Priscilla's Aluminum Crochet Hook Case. The yarn I used was leftover from an afghan I made for Gary. It is Red Heart's Farmland and at one time was discontinued. It took a lot more yarn than I had expected; nearly an entire skein. You can see a couple of empty pockets where I can add more needles as I purchase them.

FOR TODAY...October 19th

Outside my window...breezy, chilly

I am thinking...how much I love fall!

I am thankful for...the love that my husband and I share

I am wearing...my favorite denim skirt, blue t-shirt, pink sweatshirt

I am remembering... the fun weekend Ruthie and I shared while Gary and the boys were camping (in the cold!!!)

I am going...to the fabric store to hopefully return some flawed fabric, the orthodontist and to have yearbook pictures made this week. Also, a trip to the ear specialist in Memphis is in the works.

I am reading...”Twelve Extraordinary Women” by John Macarthur for Sunday School

I am hoping...to get all of the housework done today. Gary and the boys always bring gobs of laundry home from camping.

On my mind... all the ways I have been blessed. I have a wonderful husband, three great children and God has provided all of our needs.

From the learning rooms...Ancient Greece, Greek mythology, arts and crafts

Noticing that...life goes more smoothly when everyone follows the schedule!

Pondering these words...She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. Prov. 31:21

From the kitchen...Sausage, biscuits and eggs for breakfast, grilled cheese for lunch, chicken pot pie for supper

Around the house... laundry, reclaiming the house from the weekend

One of my favorite things...chilly days spent at home

From my picture journal...

Meal planning helps our family to save lots of money on the grocery bill. It also helps me to have a meal plan so that I can lay out meat to thaw or put things in the crock pot, etc. It is my goal right now to use up a good bit of our food stock, especially the frozen and canned garden vegetables that I put up.
